Note Recognition
Note recognition training helps you quickly learn to recognize notes and their names and position on both sheet music and piano keyboard. In addition, note timing anlaysis helps you rapidly learn correct note values. On the pre-training screen (as shown below) you can:
- Tap the piano keys to explore how their related notes look on the music score.
- Tap inside any yellow frame or tap the control panel buttons to change settings.
- Tap the green play button to launch a training session based on the current settings.
Chords
This feature helps you quickly learn to recognize triad chords and inversions. It can also be used to experiment with chord progressions which is great if you want to try to compose your own songs. Each skill level has different features, as shown below:

Intervals
Intervals training helps you quickly learn to recognize intervals betwen notes in both melodic and harmonic positions. On the pre-training screen (as shown below) you can:
- Tap the purple buttons to set the maximum interval number to train with.
- Tap inside any other yellow frame or tap the control panel buttons to change settings.
- Tap the green play button to launch a training session based on the current settings.
Information
App description: Shows a concise description of what the App does.
App version: Shows the App version and build number.
Show full version: Launches Safari and loads the App Store page for the full version.
Credits: Shows developer involvement and third-party acknowledgments.
General enquiries: Launches the mail application with a new email to send to the developer. Use this one for enquiries of a general nature.
Report a possible bug: Use this to send an email if you think you may have found a bug.
Make a suggestion: All suggestions about improvements to the App are welcome. Bear in mind, though that any suggestions submitted will become the intellectual property of the developer, should they be implemented.

Adjusts the properties of each feature to better suit your desired level of skill.
Beginner Level
Note recognition
- Shows only treble and bass clefs (no grand staff).
- Minimum note ranges are allowed.
- Keyboard maps can be shown during training.
- No accidentals.
Chords
- 12 Major/Minor chords are shown with no inversions.
Intervals
- Minimum note ranges are used.
Intermediate Level
Note recognition
- Includes grand staff.
- Accidentals allowed for key of C.
- Moderate note ranges are allowed.
Chords
- 12 Major/Minor chords are shown with inversions included.
Intervals
- Moderate note ranges are used.
Advanced Level
Note recognition
- Includes key signatures.
- Maximum note ranges allowed.
Chords
- Includes key signatures with seven related triad chords and inversions.
Intervals
- Maximum note ranges used.
Settings
This screen is for settings that will not be changed very often and also provides a way to clear all App settings.
Note naming convention:
Allows selection of either Western or Fixed Do note naming. Western naming uses the letters "C,D,E,F,G,A,B" whereas fixed do uses "Do,Re,Me,Fa,Sol,La,Si". This setting affects the note names shown on the piano keyboards and inside note heads and chord dots.
Clear all settings
Selecting this option resets all settings in the app to the default values.
Note range selection
After tapping a piano keyboard map the corresponding note range selection screen will be shown. The upper and lower limit of notes to use for training can be set by sliding the up and down arrows. A white box to toggle to note range selection for the alternate clef will be shown if grand staff was selected on the pre-training screen.
Training Mode
Song Selection / Random Count or Time selection
There are various training modes available depending on the training feature selected. You can train using a song, a random sequence of notes, chords or intervals using a specific count or time period. Training with songs is only available with the note recognition feature. Training with a song is also a great way to hone your rhythm skills as the rating (results) screen for note recognition also shows a note timing analysis.
